HOW TO JOIN

Membership Application Process ​

STEP ONE. Each Applicant must fill out the Application for Membership HERE.  ​

(after January 1, 2026)

1. You will need the endorsement of two members who do not reside in the same household and are in good standing and who have been members of the club for not less than one year and who have known the applicant for not less than six months.  ​

 

2. Two letters of recommendation from former AKC recognized club members, one of which must be from a current board member of the club, may be accepted in lieu of two member endorsement.  ​

EXCEPTION: From the period of June 28, 2025 - January 1, 2026 the Application Process is as follows: ​

 

1. Endorsement. You will need the endorsement of ONE active member of another AKC Breed Club that is who has known you for at least six months.  List that person's name and email on your membership application.   ​

 

2. Activity Requirement - Member (or dog owned by the member) must have personally attended two (2) AKC events in the past six month period.    Please list the two events you have entered in the past six mo. (If you do not meet this requirement, please apply once you have attended two events.)   ​

STEP TWO. Pay your membership dues. You must pay your dues prior to your Application being reviewed by the Board. You can pay via PayPal to spirtioftexassdc@gmail.com.  Please see fee schedule on the application form.

STEP THREE. Your application will be sent to the Board of Directions for review and consideration. 

​

STEP FOUR. If your application is approved by the Board, it will be submitted to the club for final club vote. Application is affirmed by three-fourths of the members present vote.
